Annual Art Competition organized by JK Arts Foundation begins with LiFE for Sustainable Living theme

April 20, 2023, Jammu: JK Arts Foundation conducted an art competition at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Reasi, Jammu. The competition was attended by some of the Foundation’s members and the school staff. A large number of students participated in the competition. Free art supplies were distributed among the participants.

This competition was a part of the JKAF Annual Art Competition. For this year’s competition, JKAF has decided to adopt the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) scheme which is currently a goal of the G20 mission under India’s Presidency, as the main theme for the annual art competition. The LiFE scheme aims at promoting sustainable living among every individual in an age of food, energy and climate crises in order to build a better future for the world. It has the potential to revolutionize the future of environmental awareness and positive action. JK Arts Foundation wishes to facilitate this mission by using art as a medium to inculcate awareness among children about the ongoing worldwide environmental crisis and the significance of a sustainable lifestyle in reshaping our future.

The art competition organized at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya was a resounding success as the students participating in the competition thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This was the first among many such competitions, since schools across Jammu and Kashmir are ready to participate in the JKAF Annual Art Competition. The Foundation members were elated to see the response they received at JNV. Geeta Vaishnavi, Founder and CEO of JKAF, remarked, “This year the general theme of the competition will follow the LiFE goal of spreading sustainable living. School students participating in the competition will be encouraged to work on themes of a sustainable lifestyle.”

The school authority at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya was overjoyed to provide the students an opportunity to participate in such a competition. The Principal, Mrs. Sangeeta Shonik, said, “The National Education Policy 2020 has emphasized the role of art in education. We look forward to a continued and productive cooperation with JKAF.”
