JK Arts Foundation Hosts Annual Poetry Recitation Competition at Kidzee Rehari, Jammu

Students from Kidzee Rehari reciting patriotic poems during JKAF’s Annual Poetry Recitation Competition, celebrating Republic Day through creative expression.
JK Arts Foundation (JKAF) organized its Annual Poetry Recitation Competition at Kidzee Rehari, Jammu, celebrating India’s Republic Day with Patriotism as the central theme. The event aimed to nurture children’s creative intelligence, self-expression, and confidence through the power of spoken word, while encouraging young minds to reflect on the values of freedom, unity, and responsibility.
Poetry recitation is more than memorizing verses—it is a pathway for children to develop communication skills, emotional awareness, and critical thinking. Through this competition, JKAF created a space where children could explore their voices, articulate thoughts, and connect with meaningful ideas. The Republic Day theme helped students understand the importance of the Constitution, democratic values, and the role of citizens in nation-building in an age-appropriate and creative manner.
A total of 30 students from Kidzee Rehari participated in the competition, each presenting poems inspired by love for the nation, respect for freedom fighters, unity in diversity, and dreams for a stronger India. The children recited with remarkable enthusiasm, expression, and clarity, showcasing their growing comfort with public speaking and storytelling. Many students demonstrated confident voice modulation, expressive gestures, and emotional connection to their poems, reflecting the positive impact of arts-based learning.
The event was designed to be inclusive and encouraging rather than purely competitive. Facilitators appreciated every participant’s effort, originality, and courage to perform on stage. Teachers observed that several children who are usually reserved in classrooms spoke with confidence during the event, indicating a visible improvement in their self-belief and communication skills.
Beyond individual performances, the competition became a shared learning experience where children listened attentively to their peers, celebrated diverse expressions of patriotism, and learned the importance of respectful listening. It reinforced the idea that poetry can be a powerful medium for young learners to express feelings, values, and hopes for their country.
A teacher from Kidzee Rehari shared, “The children were extremely excited to participate. The patriotism theme helped them connect with Republic Day in a meaningful way while building their confidence and language skills.”
Through initiatives like the Annual Poetry Recitation Competition, JK Arts Foundation continues to demonstrate how arts in education can nurture well-rounded learners equipped with creativity, confidence, and strong values—essential for shaping thoughtful and responsible citizens of tomorrow.
