SDG 4 – Quality Education: Early child education through art-based activities for children from disadvantaged communities

Education is one of the most powerful and proven tools for sustainable development, economic growth, and poverty reduction. The SDG 4 aims to ensure that all girls and boys complete their primary and secondary schooling by 2030. It also aims to provide equal access to affordable vocational training, eliminate gender and wealth disparities, and achieve universal access to quality education. Children from the poorest households are up to four times more likely to be out of school than those of rich households. Besides, education disparities and exclusion in rural areas also remain high. Keeping in view all these factors, JK Arts Foundation constantly collaborates with schools and Anganwadi centre’s to provide art education to children from low-income families. JKAF in collaboration with Galipathshala (Street School For Children) made a creative intervention to introduce an early childhood education curriculum, for the children who do not attend preschool, through art-based activities.
